Visual Arts
We have a very vibrant Visual Art program in Morris (K-6), which is a combination of work completed in classes and with specialist Art Teacher, Sally Potter. A highlight of the Arts calendar is the Morris Art Exhibition which normally takes place in November. In addition to work undertaken in individual classes with the students' class teachers, students from Prep to Year 6 each attend a specialist Art class once a week. Students in Kindergarten have a rich class-based program which recognises the central role visual art plays in the lives and development of early childhood students.
In the High School Visual Art comprises Art, Ceramics and Multimedia. All Year 7 students study Art with students able to choose Art and Ceramics as elective subjects from Year 8 onwards. In Years 11 and 12, students are also able to study Photography and Life Drawing.
The curricular art program from Years 7 to 12 focuses an the development of visual perception, and the acquisition and creative use of a range of skills and techniques relevant to a variety of media. The work of recognised artists from both western and non-western visual art traditions is also studied as a means of informing creative work. Students in Years 11 and 12 have opportunity to specialise in specific media and at a high level of sophistication whilst studying either TCE or IB Art.
High School and Clemes students are fortunate to have access to a ceramics studio in addition to two well-resourced art rooms. The curricular program is augmented by a number of co-curricular classes, particular in ceramics.
