Die Friends' school ist eine gute Schule für alle, die ein Jahr im Ausland verbringen möchten. Mir ist es nicht schwer gefallen mich einzuleben, da viele internationale Schüler die Schule besuchen und somit die Schule in der Lage ist entsprechende Hilfestellungen zu geben. Besonders gefällt mir die Unterrichtsatmosphäre, weil das Verhältnis zwischen Lehrer und Schüler auf einer sehr freundschaftlichen und herzlichenBassis beruht. Obwohl die einzelnen Schulgebäude wie Highschool, Juniorschool und Oberstufe voneinander getrennt sind, ist die Kommunikation einzigartig. Jeder Schüler und Lehrer besitzt einen eigenen Leptop mit eigener Schulemailadresse und ständigem Internetzugang. Absprachen zwischen Schülern und Lehrern sind daher mehr als einfach. Die Wahl der Unterrichtsfächer ist vielfältig. Jeder wird entsprechend seiner Fähigkeiten das Richtige finden, denn Kunst und Kochen kann man hier genauso als Hauptfach wählen wie Mathe und Englisch. Auch was Sport betrifft bleiben keine Wünsche offen. Das Angebot ist breit gefächert und bietet jedem die Möglichkeit etwas Neues zu probieren oder das Alte fortzuführen. Für mich war Friends' die richtige Entscheidung, weil ich die angenehme und freundliche Atmosphäre hier sehr genieße.

A year at The Friends' School
The Friends' School is a very good school for anybody who wants to spend a year in a another country. I settled in really fast because there are many other exchange students therefore the school is used to giving advice to help the students. The atmosphere in lessons is especially impressive because the relationship between students and teachers is very close and friendly.
Even though the different school buildings are divided it is always possible to contact people. Each student and teacher has a laptop with their own email address which makes it possible to communicate, no matter where you are.
The number of school subjects offered is also very broad. Everyone can find a subject that suits them because cooking and music can be elected as main subjects as well as English and Maths. Even the variety of different sports is huge, so it is possible to try something new or continue with a current sport.
For me The Friends' School was the right choice because I really enjoy the warm and friendly atmosphere here.

Thoughts on The Friends’ School Hobart from Lim Zhi, Year 11 Student
from Singapore.
… moving from the rigid structure of Singaporean education to a more well grounded and flexible education system (the International Baccalaureate) is one of the best choices anyone can make. There are vast differences between the two and in my opinion, I much prefer the environment here even though Singaporean education has taught me many essential study techniques, which I feel are very important in doing well academically.
The main reason why I have come to The Friends' School was for the International Baccalaureate, the range of subjects appealed to me, such as biology, chemistry, math and psychology, a combination which is impossible to take up in Singapore.
I was also aware of the academic excellence The Friends' School has provided many of its past students.
I loved the close and informal relationship between students and teachers, an aspect that only small schools such as The Friends' School can provide.
There have been many opportunities outside of school to excel and I have greatly enjoyed all of them. There is less pressure than compared to Singapore education and it allowed me to develop my other skills.
